BTSCF Newsletter - July 2023

It's hard to believe how quickly summer is slipping through our fingers. It feels like just yesterday we were dusting off our flip flops and breaking out the sunscreen, yet now we find ourselves flipping the calendar to August and wondering where the time went. Check out what is happening at BTSCF!

The Port Jervis Stone Challenge

The Port Jervis Stone Challenge 5 is coming soon. Register today!

If you think you've seen it all in the world of fitness and athletic performance, think again (unless you’ve already seen the Port Jervis Stone Challenge of course). Enter the Port Jervis Stone Challenge, a grueling test of strength, endurance, and mental fortitude.

The challenge is simple in concept yet incredibly demanding in execution: participants must run down the mountain from Point Peter to collect their stone, then carry the stone back up the mountain.

The journey begins with a display of speed as competitors run down the mountain. From their they’ll collect and test their strength and willingness to keep moving.

The path laid out before them is treacherous and unforgiving. Uneven terrain, gravel, mud, and steep inclines serve as constant obstacles, threatening to throw them off balance and send the stone crashing to the ground. Each step must be taken with utmost caution and precision, as even the slightest misstep could spell disaster. OK, we are being dramatic here, but the terrain will test you.

It’s a lot of fun and the race helps raise money for a great cause.

Its Games Season

The CrossFit Games is the pinnacle of competitive fitness, bringing together the world's fittest athletes to showcase their incredible physical and mental prowess. The games begin August 1st. For more information, check out The CrossFit Games website.

Nutrition: Support Exercise, Not Body Fat

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dK4PdZRwYKs&w=560&h=315]

CrossFit’s nutrition prescription is simple. Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat.

That may be simple, that doesn’t mean it is easy. We are here to help and offer one-on-one personalized nutrition coaching. Talk to a coach for more information.
