BTSCF Feature Athlete
Meet Nickie McLoughlin
When did you start CrossFitting?
I went to CrossFit for the first time in the summer of 2022, while visiting my friend, Debbie, in Florida.
If different, when did you start at BTSCF?
I joined BTSCF in October 2022.
What brought you to CrossFit?
My friend and I started a fitness journey in May 2022 - she had joined CrossFit & I had a personal trainer at the local Y. In the same time frame, she experienced significant change with substantial weight loss and improvement in physical mobility - to what I had achieved. It was clear that CrossFit - works.
That same friend, help to locate & select a local CrossFit here in NY (BTSCF), for me with moderate resistance I admit - at first.
What have you learned from doing CrossFit?
I learned to focus and enjoy the process, and that I am capable of more than I think.
What would you say to someone who is on the fence about starting CrossFit?
It was the best decision I've made, It's not what you think - its designed for everyone, intimidating yes, but most change is...
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love the outdoors; boating, fishing, enjoying sunrises & sunsets.
What do you do for work and how has CrossFit impacted how you do your job?
I am a surgical RN. CrossFit has improved my physical ability & mobility to work within the Operating Room as well as endurance/ tolerance for long shifts.

Q: What TV Sitcome family or group wold you be a member of?
A: The Big Bang Theory.
Q: If you were famous, what would you be famous for?
A: Probably inventing personal time travel.
Q: If you could write your own fortune cookie fortune, what would it say?
A: No one is guaranteed tomorrow - so it's a good day for a good day.
Q: If you were a professional wrestler, what would your finishing move be called?
A: Perhaps... a throat punch or a spear.
Q: Who do you look up to for inspiration at BTSCF?
A: I look up to Heather - she is a beautiful human inside & out - commanding & transforming the CrossFit arena.
