The 2019 Open Is Here

So you’re in The Open and you just heard what 19.1 is. At this point you are somewhere between “I got this,” and “What did I get myself into?” Here is the advice we can give you:

  1. Stay humble. It may seem like you have the workout covered.  Be confident, but don’t get cocky. Don’t let a workout sneak up on you in the middle.

  2. You are the only thing you can control. Be the best you that you can be and maintain your focus. Monitor on the rowing machine doesn’t turn on? Judge miscounts a rep? Too hot? Too cold? These are things you cannot control. Just keep moving and give it your all. That is all that you can do.

  3. Have Fun. Expectations and goals are good, but unless you are on the path toward being a Games athlete, you are in The Open for the fun, the experience, the camaraderie, and to see how far you’ve come in the past year. Your friends are there, and this is the first stage in The Games, and games should be fun.

Here at Burn the Ships CrossFit, we are here to empower you, praise your hard work, and dedicate ourselves to helping you become the absolute best you can be. Check out our Mission Statement:

Let’s have a blast! You will learn so much about yourself. Stand by those words for the next 5 weeks because community, safety and integrity come before everything else. The Open is not about the Games, it’s an assessment of the mind and the body. Whether this your 1st Open or your 5th, we are looking forward to watching you find out things about yourself that you didn’t know existed...and we get to do that together!
