The Barbell
The barbell is a tool. It is a coach. It is a therapist. It is a friend. The barbell is honest. It makes you accountable. The barbell is life.
Our minds have a way of overcomplicating things. Life seems to take on a seemingly infinite number of shades of grey. Over time we tend of lose sight of the elegance of simplicity. The barbell not only encourages simplicity, but it helps the mind draw focus to it.
The fact of the matter is there are only two options with the barbell. You can choose to attempt to lift it, or you can choose not to. The greater simplicity is there are only two true results with the barbell. You either lift it or you do not. The shades of grey disappear. It is black or white.
Think about your life. Perhaps you’re thinking about work, your relationship, school, or your family. How many situations in your life have you turned into many shades of grey when they could have been black or white? How many times have you overcomplicated something? Pick one of those moments. Did overcomplicating it help you, or hold you back?
Maybe in the end everything worked out, or maybe it didn’t. Black or white. You either pick up the barbell, or you don’t.
Focus on what matters and avoid the shades of grey. Learn from the barbell.
