Embracing structure can help you stay motivated and consistent in your workouts, making it easier to integrate fitness into your busy schedule. Let’s make this season one of growth and achievement together! Check out what’s going on this month at BTSCF!

Labor Day Hours

We will hold classes on Labor Day at 8:15 and 9:30. All other classes are canceled. Have a great Labor Day Holiday Weekend!

2024 Fantasy Football League

On Saturday, 8/24 the members of the BTSCF Fantasy Football League came together to finalize league rules and complete their player draft.

Player by player, the draft board filled up. The day was filled with some fun, cut throat rule decisions, picks, and fantasy football trivia.

Monthly Challenges

Our monthly challenges are in full swing! First it was a bar hang, then the D-Ball carry. What is the next challenge going to be?

Welcome, Eve Erickson

Almost a year and a half ago, Eve joined us and began taking classes. After a while, she inquired about the path to becoming a member of the BTSCF coaching staff. We are so excited that Eve will be joining our staff this September. Here’s a little more about Eve:

What made you interested in coaching?

When I first joined BTSCF as a member, I was just excited to start going to classes and see how CrossFit could help improve my mental and physical health. What I didn’t realize was that CrossFit is so much more than its programming and its results - it’s really about the community. I’ve been so blown away by how supportive everyone at BTSCF is, and the coaches are really at the center of that. They put so much care and attention into each class, making sure that everyone who walks into the gym is supported, challenged, and pushed to be their best. Seeing the amazing impact coaches can have on their members’ lives made me want to pursue coaching and get involved in the CrossFit community on a deeper level.

What are you most looking forward to about coaching?

I’m really looking forward to connecting with members on a new level and developing their trust in me as a coach. I want everyone who takes my classes to feel safe and seen, and walk out the door feeling like they accomplished or learned something. Ultimately, I just want to help people move better and be their best selves.

September Ruck/Hike

Join us on Sunday, 9/15 in the Watershed Trails for a Ruck/Hike. This will be the workout of the day and we’ll be getting outside and away for the gym that morning. Rucking is infinitely scalable because there are so many ways to carry a load. Ruck with what you’re comfortable with…fill a bag or a pack, use a weighted vest, or carry nothing at all.

Meet at Parking Lot 2 located at 201 Skyline Drive (the entrance to Point Peter) at 8:15a. Any questions you may have will be answered and the group will be heading out for a 2.5 mile Ruck/Hike, promptly at 8:30. We will move at a brisk walking pace, not a run. Trails may be wet or muddy in some areas, so plan to wear appropriate shoes. Don’t forget a water bottle. We’re excited to see everyone on the trail!

BTSCF Feature Athlete

Meet Sam Trudgeon

When did you start CrossFitting?

June of 2022

What brought you to CrossFit?

After having my third baby I was eager to get back to feeling physically stronger and healthier. But I needed someone to watch my baby! So, my sweet friend Jess tricked me into coming to Burn the Ships with the enticing offer of watching him for me after her class. Of course, I fell in love with it and the people right away. I can’t imagine my life without it now.

What have you learned from doing CrossFit?

That I’m actually a pretty “athletic” kind of person! I never played sports or anything like that when I was younger. I would have never considered this to be my “thing”, let alone something that I now consider to be so life-changing for me.

What would you say to someone who is on the fence about starting CrossFit?

Please just try it! I know it’s hard to be the “new guy”, but you don’t know what you’re capable of until you give it a shot.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I don’t have much of that, ha! But I love to be with my family. I am mostly outside, with our dogs, gardening, riding things that go fast, or at jiu jitsu.

What do you do for work and how has CrossFit impacted how you do your job?

I’m a stay at home mom who homeschools. I have two preteens and a baby.. so as much as I hate cardio it helps me keep up with them! And I really love that my children get to watch me, and so many other inspiring people at the gym, doing healthy, HARD, things.

We threw some lightning round questions at Sam, here’s what she had to say:

Q: What super power would you give yourself?

A: A green thumb

Q: What's your favorite healthy food?

A: Smoothie bowls and Buddha bowls

Q: What's your favorite not so healthy food?

A: Popcorn and chocolate milk!

Q: What TV Sitcom family or group would you be a member of?

A: Hmm, I don’t know too many of these.. open to suggestions!

Q: If you were famous, what would you be famous for?

A: Overthinking incredibly simple situations

Q: If you could write your own fortune cookie fortune, what would it say?

A: There is no try! Do or do not!

Q: If you were a professional wrestler, what would you finishing move be called?

A: The death cuddle

Q: Who do you look up to for inspiration at BTSCF?

A: Everyone! I love my 8:15 family! But everyone who shows up in a gym is taking time to better themselves and I respect that so much.

Q: What is your favorite and least favorite movement?

A: Favorite: ROPE CLIMBS, Least favorite: The echo bike!!!!

Q: What is the one thing you've done at BTSCF that your old self wouldn't ever believe?

A: Show up on running days and actually enjoy myself

Q: Anything else you’d like to share?

A: I am so thankful to everyone at BTS, for welcoming me on day 1, for checking in on me when I’m slacking, and for inspiring me to work harder just by being yourselves.
